Introduction to Dell Command | Configure
Dell Command | Configure is a software package that provides BIOS configuration capability for Dell client systems. IT administrators can use this tool to configure BIOS settings and create BIOS packages using the Dell Command | Configure User Interface (UI) or Command-Line Interface (CLI).
NOTA: Dell Command | Configure replaces Dell Client Configuration Toolkit version 2.2.1.

Installing Dell Command | Configure on Windows systems
You can install Dell Command | Configure on Windows systems using either the Dell Update Package (DUP) or the MSI installer.
Both installers support standard and silent (unattended) installation modes.
NOTA: Microsoft .NET 4.8.1 or later must be installed on the client system to install Dell Command | Configure using the user interface.
NOTA: If User Account Control (UAC) is enabled on a Windows 10 system, silent mode installation is not allowed. Ensure that you have administrative privileges before installing Dell Command | Configure in silent mode.

Install Dell Command | Configure using DUP: Standard installation
To install Dell Command | Configure, run the Dell Update Package (DUP) with default settings. This method simplifies deployment and requires minimal user input.

To install Dell Command | Configure, run the MSI file directly for a standard installation with default settings providing a simple and user-friendly setup process.

Uninstalling Dell Command | Configure from Windows systems
To uninstall Dell Command | Configure, use the Control Panel to remove the application from Windows ensuring clean removal without affecting system settings.

NOTA: This system does not have a WMI-ACPI compliant BIOS, so the limited functionality is available. Update the BIOS with a compatible version, if available. For more information, see Dell Command | Configure 5.x Release Notes at Support | Dell.
NOTA: You cannot install and upgrade Dell Command | Configure on non-WMI-ACPI in silent mode.
Upgrade Dell Command | Configure using DUP file

Installing Dell Command | Configure on Linux systems
To install Dell Command | Configure on Linux, download the appropriate .deb or .rpm package from Dell Support and use your package manager to install it enabling CLI-based BIOS configuration on supported Dell systems.
NOTA:
- Dell Command | Configure user interface is not supported on systems running the Linux operating system.
- Dell Command Secure BIOS Configuration(DCSBC) is not supported on systems running the Linux operating system.
You can install the Dell Command | Configure for Red Hat and Debian-based linux distributions, by following these steps:
- Go to Support | Dell, download the tar.gz file.
NOTA:
● If you have downloaded the package for Red Hat Enterprise Linux, the RPMs are included in the package.
● If you have downloaded the package for Ubuntu Desktop, the Debians are included in the package.
Install the RPMs or Debians as appropriate for your system.

NOTA: Uninstalling or upgrading Dell Command | Configure on systems running supported Linux operating systems leave empty files and folders on the system. These residual files and folders do not affect system functionality.
Uninstall Dell Command | Configure from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and 9

You can upgrade Dell Command | Configure on Linux, uninstall the existing version and install the latest package.
- Download the Dell Command | Configure .tar.gz file from Support | Dell and save it on your system.

Installing Dell Command | Configure for Dell Command Secure BIOS Configuration
Hardware Security Module (HSM) is used as a signing method for the Dell Command Secure BIOS Configuration workflow.
NOTA: Dell Command Secure BIOS Configuration(DCSBC) is not compatible with ARM64-bit systems.

Do not modify the last option %1, as it allows the signature command to accept the payload file that is generated by Dell Command | Configure during runtime for signing.
Installing Dell Command | Configure for Dell Command Secure BIOS Configuration Server
To install Dell Command | Configure for use with the Secure BIOS Configuration Server, download the appropriate installer package and follow the setup instructions to enable remote BIOS configuration and policy enforcement.
- Run Command_Configure.msi from Power Shell in administrator mode.

The Dell Command | Configure installer configures the Dell Command Secure BIOS Configuration Server for HTTP calls. For added security, you can also configure the Dell Command Secure BIOS Configuration Server using HTTPS on the system where Dell Command Secure BIOS Configuration is installed, by following these steps:
- Press the Windows key and press the R key to launch the Run dialog box.
- Type Services.msc and then press Enter to open Windows Services.
- Locate Dell Secure Configuration Service.
- Right-click Dell Secure Configuration Service, and click Stop.
- Go to the Dell Command | Configure installation path C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\Command

NOTA: The certificate to be provided must be associated to the Url specified in the same field. Also, specify the Client Certificate Modeas Allow Certificate to allow Dell Command Secure BIOS Configuration server to function without any issues. You must specify the complete Path for the Https certificate and the Password for authenticating the Https Certificate. The Password can be left empty if the Https certificate does not require a password authentication. - Save changes to the appsettings.json file and start the Dell Secure Configuration Service from Windows Services.

Dell Command | Configure for Windows Preinstallation Environment
Windows Preinstallation Environment (WinPe) provides a stand-alone preinstallation environment that is used to prepare a system for Windows installation. For client systems that do not have an operating system that is installed, you can create a bootable image that contains Dell Command | Configure to run the Dell Command | Configure commands on Windows PE. To create Windows PE 10.0, and Windows PE 11.0 images, you can use Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (Windows ADK).
Using Windows PE 10.0, and Windows PE 11.0, you can integrate Dell Command | Configure.
NOTA: Dell Command | Configure 5.x for Windows Preinstallation Environment is not compatible with ARM64-bit systems.
